Quỳnh Như's Story About months ago, when I started online learning due to the influence of Covid-19. I had plenty of time and started taking the free courses offered on the Volunteers site. I took an introductory course in computer programming. That's also when I started getting acquainted with the command line via the game: Blockly. There are many levels and many types. I remember getting through the first levels in the matrix game moving the human figure to the finish line with a limited number of steps in terms of loops, conditions. Once done, I should be able to see the corresponding statements in Javascript. I find that a lot of useful things can be built by learning about programming and understanding how it works.

🙋‍♀️ Quỳnh Như's Motivation

I had the opportunity to be accompanied by a mentor. She gave me a lot of inspiration to learn to code, the hardships and challenges of women about it. In a sharing session with her, I was introduced by her to SheCodes as one of the organizations that teach programming for women. I am really impressed with this when women are taken care of and opened up to new possibilities. She advised me to learn programming - this will greatly benefit my career opportunities in the final years before I graduate. She didn't know anything about programming either, she was still able to educate herself and said to me, "You too". I can follow the student coding program and join it. I used to be very scared and thought learning to code was scary, but she gave me a lot of motivation to learn. When I found out about this program, I was really happy that I could learn more programming. Currently, I am a 3rd year e-commerce student and starting to get used to coding. I realize that it is very important and I really don't know about it. This is also an opportunity for me to learn new knowledge bases and gain more confidence in the career path that I pursue.

🤹‍♀️ Quỳnh Như's Hobbies

I love reading books and creating my own garden with small plants and flowers. It helps me feel relaxed after a long day and in a better mood. Love talking with friends. Especially during times of lockdown, I find it really important to energize each other.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
