My Tran's Story I watched a lot of youtube videos from international university students from around the world because I want to know what they are doing to enrich themselves. I think university life is very unique and is the best opportunity to improve yourself. Not surprisingly, they are learning to code. So I start there, finding out more and taking some of the first steps. I register for the CS50 course from Harvard, and actually dive into some of the concepts. It's difficult, but it's interesting and magical somehow that we can actually tell the computer to do something. That's when my interest begins.

🙋‍♀️ My Tran's Motivation

I believe that knowing how to code is important in this era when technology is developing at an unprecedented speed. I know about SheCodes when I stumbled across a post on Facebook by SheCodes Vietnam. I can guess from the name what your mission is, and I know that's meaningful. Gender equality is an issue of our generation, but at least we are taking action. In many countries, girls are not allowed to go to school, they are not permitted to have an education. I am one of the lucky ones, I live in a country where most girls can expect to have a degree, yet girls are still being robbed of a lot of opportunities. Traditional norms said that girls have to be gentle, that we don't need to know much, we just need to take care of our family and be a housewife. I believe that this needs to change, and I believe education is the key. I am happy to know that SheCodes is offering this program so that I and many other girls can now start to step into the code world. I love learning new knowledge and skills, and I have good self-discipline, that's why I am here.

🤹‍♀️ My Tran's Hobbies

I read books definitely. My major at university is in Business, so I usually read books about Economics. I find it amazing how the economy affects our daily lives. Other times, I like to go swimming. We have a public pool here in our city, so that's very convenient for young people like me to practice swimming whenever we want. I find myself relaxing free in the water, and I enjoy that feeling.
