Adeola's Story
My interest in coding was sparked during a challenging academic journey: the prolonged 8-month 2022 ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) strike in Nigeria. Faced with uncertainty, I saw an opportunity to invest in self-development by enrolling in an introductory data analytics course on LinkedIn Learning. This experience opened my eyes to the vast possibilities that coding and data science hold in solving critical problems.
Determined to deepen my knowledge, I enrolled in the Tech4Dev boot camp. However, my progress was derailed by the loss of my only laptop. This setback, rather than discouraging me, fueled my resolve to find alternative ways to pursue my tech dreams. Joining communities like Wetech provided me with inspiration and a network of like-minded women pursuing similar goals.
My fascination with coding lies in its ability to create innovative, scalable solutions. With my background in civil engineering, I envision coding as a bridge between technical expertise and social impact. I am captivated by the idea of transforming data into actionable insights and building tools that address real-world challenges. Coding is more than a skill to me, it is a gateway to creating meaningful change, especially for underserved communities like mine.
