Adeola's Story My interest in coding was sparked during a challenging academic journey: the prolonged 8-month 2022 ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) strike in Nigeria. Faced with uncertainty, I saw an opportunity to invest in self-development by enrolling in an introductory data analytics course on LinkedIn Learning. This experience opened my eyes to the vast possibilities that coding and data science hold in solving critical problems. Determined to deepen my knowledge, I enrolled in the Tech4Dev boot camp. However, my progress was derailed by the loss of my only laptop. This setback, rather than discouraging me, fueled my resolve to find alternative ways to pursue my tech dreams. Joining communities like Wetech provided me with inspiration and a network of like-minded women pursuing similar goals. My fascination with coding lies in its ability to create innovative, scalable solutions. With my background in civil engineering, I envision coding as a bridge between technical expertise and social impact. I am captivated by the idea of transforming data into actionable insights and building tools that address real-world challenges. Coding is more than a skill to me, it is a gateway to creating meaningful change, especially for underserved communities like mine.

🙋‍♀️ Adeola's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is rooted in a desire to break barriers and create impactful solutions for underserved communities like the one I grew up in. Coming from Mosafejo Amukoko, in Nigeria, a rural area with limited access to technology, I have experienced how lack of resources hinders opportunities for growth. Coding represents the power to transform ideas into tangible solutions that can improve lives and close this gap. My journey into tech began when I discovered data analytics and its potential to solve real-world problems. Despite setbacks like financial constraints and a damaged laptop, I refused to let my passion for tech fade. I have since immersed myself in learning, joining programs like DigiGirls and the PAC Foundation initiative to equip myself with skills for the future. SheCodes offers a unique platform for women like me to thrive in tech, and I am motivated to leverage this opportunity to advance my skills in coding. Beyond personal growth, I aim to mentor other young women, proving that with determination, even the most disadvantaged can achieve success. This scholarship will not only empower me but also amplify my impact on others.

🤹‍♀️ Adeola's Hobbies

I find fulfilment in volunteering to empower women and girls, as it aligns with my mission to inspire change. For fun, I enjoy reading motivational books and exploring online courses to learn new skills. I also enjoy solving puzzles, which helps me refine my critical thinking and creativity.
