Afifa 's Story I have had a natural curiosity about technology from a young age, but I couldn't pursue it due to limited access to education. However, I managed to learn the basics of computers, which I found fascinating, fun, and innovative. Building something from scratch and seeing it come to life has always been an exciting experience for me. Additionally, I have been motivated by a family member who shares the same tech mindset as me. They have consistently encouraged me to pursue my dream in the field of technology.

🙋‍♀️ Afifa 's Motivation

My main motivation for joining SheCodes is to improve my coding skills and open up new career opportunities. I believe that learning to code can provide me with the ability to earn a living and support myself and my family financially. Moreover, I want to be a source of inspiration for other Afghan girls who may feel limited in their options. I truly believe that coding has the power to unlock doors to new possibilities, ignite innovation, and bring about positive social change. By gaining coding skills through SheCodes, I hope to break barriers and show other Afghan girls that they too can pursue their dreams and create a better future for themselves.

🤹‍♀️ Afifa 's Hobbies

As a curious individual, I have several hobbies that I thoroughly enjoy. Reading is one of my greatest passions as it allows me to constantly learn and expand my knowledge. I also actively volunteer online at a local NGO, where I share my knowledge as an English tutor with my fellow sisters. Additionally, I have a deep fascination with computers and tech devices. I love exploring their functionalities and capabilities, as it not only satisfies my curiosity but also keeps me updated with the latest technological advancements. Lastly, I find joy in expressing my creativity through calligraphy, handmade crafts, photography, and sketching.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
