🙋♀️ Anastasiia's Motivation
I used to believe that only people possessing certain in-born mathematical type of mindset could learn coding. And what is more, this area is teeming with gender stereotypes and there is a common belief that only men can be successful in coding, while roles in QA and support are left to women. I have heard some success stories of women in tech, but later found out that they had degrees in mathematics or computer science. So venturing into this new territory seemed a bit scary for me as I have been better at humanities, namely foreign languages. However, a free class with SheCodes has changed my views on the complexity of coding. In particular, the similarity between programming languages and human languages, especially English, intrigued me. I understood that with a clear goal and well-designed learning path in SheCodes I would be able to learn the basics. And if I try hard enough, I would be able to master coding. Learning how to code would be an opportunity to take a step forward in my career as I teach foreign languages and want to improve technology-enhanced learning experience for my students. Lack of technical knowledge hinders my progress as I currently have no tools to use my knowledge of teaching methods and experience in creating better learning apps for students.
