Anne's Story I became interested in coding through my first daughter. She learns ICT in school for free. Out of curiosity, i learnt the importance of coding in the health sector and it caught my attention as an Optometrist.

🙋‍♀️ Anne's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code is to be cyber security expert. I love providing solutions to challenges. Also, as a woman and a mother of 3 beautiful girls, I need to learn needed skills to boost my financial independence and be that perfect example for my girls. As an Optometrist, I helped a colleague who relocated abroad managed his eye clinic last year after being a stay - at- home mom for 3 years. Due to the current economy hardship in Nigeria, we had to shutdown the eye clinic in December 2023. Currently, I have no job. Prior to this, I never had a steady employment history since I became an Optometrist 14 years ago. This is due to the fact that my husband and I agreed I give priority to the home and raising the kids. This experience left me wanting to improve my skills to provide a better life for my family.

🤹‍♀️ Anne's Hobbies

I love reading books on mystery and adventures. I love playing games like puzzles, rubrics etc. I love solving problems or just helping people.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
