Asiphe's Story My interest in coding started when I came across a person who was working remotely as a coder, but I had no information regarding how to go about it and I knew that I will not have money to pay for the course. So, I let it go until I came across SheCodes foundation. Learning coding for me isn't just about getting a job but I hope to pass on the information to anyone who desires to study coding more especially, youth from my community.

🙋‍♀️ Asiphe's Motivation

I was born and bred in a rural area where chances for acquiring skills like coding and any formal education are narrow due to limited funding and information. But despite my background, I manage to bag a Bachelor of Laws degree and went on to do my practical legal training (PLT) in 2019 and I have been looking for work ever since then. And then, I saw a post on TikTok about SheCodes foundation and how it empowers women who are interested in coding, and I jumped in because I been looking for a new skill that will allow me to secure work in other countries and show other young women that it's possible to start over again with the help of foundations like SheCodes.

🤹‍♀️ Asiphe's Hobbies

I am a family orientated person so enjoy games that will include my family and friends. I enjoy computer games and word games because they challenge my intelligence. I love watching soccer because it teaches me how to strategies and challenges you to think of a new strategy when the game plan fails.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
