Courtney's Story I first became interested in coding during my undergraduate studies when I was introduced to it briefly. I was immediately fascinated by how websites were created using coding languages, and I found myself wanting to learn more. The idea of building something from scratch and seeing it come to life through code really intrigued me. Since then, I’ve been eager to expand my knowledge and skills in languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I’m particularly interested in learning more coding languages to create well-designed websites and provide seamless user experiences. This curiosity and passion for coding has driven me to pursue further learning in the field.

🙋‍♀️ Courtney's Motivation

I am passionate about technology and strongly believe that coding is a valuable skill that can open doors to endless opportunities, especially in the corporate world. I am drawn to SheCodes because it empowers women in a male-dominated industry, challenging outdated norms and proving that tech is for everyone. As an unemployed graduate, I have struggled to find job opportunities due to a lack of experience. This has made it difficult for me to improve my family’s financial situation. My mother, the sole breadwinner, is experiencing pay cuts, which has prevented me from affording a coding course. Despite these challenges, I remain determined to grow, learn, and create a better future for myself and my family. SheCodes is more than just a program to me—it is a chance to gain valuable skills, build confidence, and break into the tech industry with the support of a community that believes in empowering women. With this opportunity, I will not only grow my career but also inspire others to pursue their passions, no matter their background or circumstances.

🤹‍♀️ Courtney's Hobbies

I enjoy watching YouTube videos about women who are pursuing careers in technology. I find their stories inspiring, especially when they share the challenges they face in the workplace. These videos not only motivate me but also help me better understand the hurdles women face in male-dominated industries. I’m fascinated by how they overcome these obstacles, and their resilience encourages me to continue pursuing my own career goals in tech. For fun, I create content on TikTok and YouTube, where I showcase how to maintain and style natural hair, offering tips and techniques to help others embrace and care for their curls. I also love sharing tutorials on how to make delicious desserts, exploring different recipes, and showing step-by-step processes for making tasty treats. Creating this content allows me to combine my passion for teaching and creativity.
