Cynthia's Story I got interested in coding when I was in school we had a group assignment where we had to design a motion detector with alarm and light using Arduino uno . . This project helped me develop interest in technology, I began learning about basic programming using information from the internet and other educational tools. I also had the same chance to attend a basic computer class in school which extended my curiosity in it as well. Learning about algorithms and understanding of concepts that codes can solve problems brought me the awareness of what was achievable in programming. This experience made me to be more interested since I understood how liberating it is to create something yourself. Finally, I looked for online forums and coursework to learn more about coding . Getting to know other individuals with the same goal of becoming a developer and the coding challenges let me be involved in some group projects. From the coding I realized it is not only a skill that can help me get a job but also a way through which I could be able to design and implement my ideas.

🙋‍♀️ Cynthia's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is to become relevant and enable myself with skills that are always needed in today’s world. Knowing the coding language, as technology advances across multiple sectors, I know that it would bring positive effects towards improving my chances of employment, and be part of the change. Programing languages and web development interest me in as much as it gives me the ability to transform my ideas into reality. Furthermore, working with SheCodes, I had to do a lot of focus on the fact that this is a learning community of people where everyone is eager to support and encourage others. Part of a network that promotes female participation in coding not only gives a feel of fellowship but also creates a breeding ground for exchange of information. I think that learning with people who have similar goals as myself will only help motivate one another and be able to find solace in the success as well as difficulties that life brings to each of us. This community aspect is very important in establishing confidence, and eradiculating the odds encountered whenever one is learning about a new process or activity. Last but not the least; the love for coding and development enables me to come up with constructive projects to solve most of the emerging problems. Thanks to the information received during the completion of SheCodes, I would like to participate in creating positive change by working on applications that would help the society like creating applications for minorities or part that enhanced education field. This desire pushes me into learning deeper depths of coding, as with technology I want to achieve more other than simply benefiting me alone. Finally, my experience as a SheCoder is all about self- and social-empowerment, and the use of code as a way to effect change.
