Faith's Story After I lost my job, I read about remote jobs and tried to get one for myself. I hardly possess any skills so it was difficult, instead of mopping I tried to learn some on my own. I enrolled in a Google scholarship programme to learn IT support, afterwards I revamped my Linkedin profile and got an offer, it was for a month but it opened my eyes to the possibilities that the tech world possess so I started to research on how to become a developer, watching tutorials, reading articles and applying for scholarships.

To enhance my professional skill, to be gainfully employed, to build a network with females from different continues across the globe. I’ve continually read success stories of women that have been beneficiaries of this platform and I’m inspired by how good they’ve gotten, how much lives have been impacted, how this has become a family of women rooting for each other, encouraging each other, how much power women possess because of this education. I want to be a part of this community of women doing good and giving back, I want to learn and be empowered too. I want to be able to get a job that actually pays for my skill and I want to work up my professional ladder.

🤹‍♀️ Faith's Hobbies

I enjoy studying, I am always researching for things, constantly learning new things, watching tutorials on YouTube, attending zoom calls and gaining knowledge. On days when I am stressed or sad, I like to cook, I enjoy feeding people and seeing them happy. I also like to travel, although I haven’t been to a lot of places but I constantly visit them through the eyes of travel bloggers and would hope to visit some of these places someday.

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
