Farzana's Story I first became interested in coding when I saw the transformative power of technology in changing people's lives and shaping the world around us. As I navigated through the digital landscape, I was inspired by how coding can be used to create websites, apps, and software that have a real impact on society. I was drawn to the creative aspect of coding, being able to build something from scratch and bring my ideas to life through lines of code. When I observed the growing demand for tech skills in the job market, I realized that learning how to code could open up a world of opportunities for me. I saw it as a valuable skill that could not only improve my career prospects but also allow me to contribute meaningfully to the tech industry and beyond.

🙋‍♀️ Farzana's Motivation

As an Afghan woman, my motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is multifaceted. First and foremost, I see coding as a pathway to economic empowerment and financial independence. In a society where women often face limitations in accessing education and job opportunities, acquiring coding skills can open doors to well-paying jobs in the tech industry, allowing me to support myself and my family. learning how to code is a form of self-empowerment for me. In a male-dominated society where women's voices are often marginalized, gaining expertise in coding would not only boost my confidence but also provide me with a platform to showcase my skills and capabilities.

🤹‍♀️ Farzana's Hobbies

Some of my hobbies include reading, painting, and spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy immersing myself in books and exploring different genres to escape into different worlds and perspectives. Painting allows me to express my creativity and emotions through colors and shapes, giving me a sense of peace and fulfillment. I also cherish quality time with my loved ones, whether it's sharing a meal together, engaging in lively conversations, or simply enjoying each other's company. Building and maintaining strong relationships is important to me, as it brings joy and a sense of peace. I also love delving into the world of technology and computers in my free time and I have a schedule for my coding journey. Exploring coding languages and learning new programming skills excites me, as it challenges my problem-solving abilities and allows me to create innovative solutions. Building and experimenting with different software projects not only expands my knowledge but also fuels my passion for technology.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
