Gculisa's Story To be honest, I wasn’t always sure about my path. After high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do, so I initially applied for a network engineering course. However, the campus I applied to didn’t offer network engineering, so I ended up choosing the application development course instead, without fully understanding what I was getting myself into. Looking back, it’s safe to say that this unplanned decision turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever made. As I delved into the course, I started to see a future for myself in the tech industry and, for the first time, felt a sense of belonging. It was a relief, especially since I had no other clear passions or direction at the time.

🙋‍♀️ Gculisa's Motivation

I recently came across a video of a young woman who had enrolled in your course, and her journey deeply inspired me. She started with no prior knowledge of coding, yet through dedication and hard work, she gained a comprehensive understanding of the field. Over time, she mastered the skills needed to tackle real-world challenges and eventually secured a job that allowed her to become independent. Watching her transformation into a self-sufficient, confident individual was truly motivating. Her story resonated with me because it aligns with my own aspirations. I do have a background in technology, but I often feel under-qualified and not as knowledgeable as I would like to be. Despite my foundation, I’ve never had the opportunity to work on real-life projects or collaborate within a team environment. This is something I deeply desire, not just to enhance my technical skills, but also to gain the experience of working towards solutions alongside others with more experience, learning from different perspectives, and seeing the impact of collective effort. The tech industry offers endless opportunities to innovate and solve meaningful problems, and I am excited about the versatility and creativity it allows. What draws me to your courses is not just the technical expertise it provides but also the emphasis on practical, hands-on learning and collaboration. I want to challenge myself, bridge the gap in my knowledge, and grow both personally and professionally. I also think the opportunity of working with others will boost my confidence and kill the imposter syndrome. For me, this journey is not just about acquiring skills, it’s about building self-confidence and contributing to impactful solutions. I am eager to take this step, gain real-world experience, and fully unlock my potential in this dynamic field.

🤹‍♀️ Gculisa's Hobbies

I enjoy coding-lol-but seriously, I have a variety of interests outside of tech. Fitness is a big part of my life; I love going to the gym and participating in marathons, even if it’s just 5km runs. Baking is another hobby of mine, though I’ll admit I’m not as skilled as I’d like to be.I’m also an avid reader, although it’s a passion I fall in and out of depending on how busy life gets. I love exploring new restaurants, trying different foods and drinks, and attending musical events. Music is another big love of mine, it’s something I enjoy both as a listener and as part of the overall experience of life.
