Jenn Yi's Story As a UI/UX designer, my primary focus is on creating intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces, understanding user behavior, and conducting usability testing. However, having a basic understanding of CSS and HTML allows me to effectively communicate my design ideas to developers. It enables me to provide accurate specifications for the visual elements, layout, and interactions that I envision for the user interface. By being able to articulate my design intentions clearly, I can ensure that developers have a clear understanding of what needs to be implemented.
Learning coding will not only enhance my career prospects but also allow me to have more control over the implementation of my designs. By being able to code, I can bring my creative ideas to life without relying on developers or technical teams. This independence will enable me to iterate and experiment with different design concepts more efficiently. Additionally, coding skills will open up new avenues for me in terms of job opportunities. With the increasing demand for designers who can code, I can explore roles that require both design and development expertise. This versatility will make me a valuable asset in any organization, as I can contribute across multiple disciplines.
When I have time to myself, I find great delight in catching up on my favourite TV shows, listening to my favourite music, playing the guitar and exploring the latest design trends.
