Mariyam 's Story
My interest in coding began quite unexpectedly. I was a biology student in junior college and had no prior knowledge of coding. My only exposure to it was a brief and basic introduction in the computer science subject we had in school, which didn’t leave a lasting impression.
Everything changed when I met a friend in junior college who was majoring in computer science. His enthusiasm and natural teaching ability made coding look intriguing. One day, he volunteered to teach me, and that’s when I wrote my first lines of Python code. For three days, I dived into the basics, but I had to pause my learning to prepare for my final exams.
That short experience gave me a glimpse of how exciting and fulfilling coding could be. I realized that this could be a career path I’d love to pursue. After my exams, I reconnected with the same friend, and over the next three months, I dedicated myself to learning Python during the holidays.
Now, I am a freshman at a local college, pursuing a degree in computer science engineering. This journey has been an incredible shift from biology to coding, and I’m excited about what lies ahead.
