Narmadha's Story As for me, I became interested in coding when I started noticing that the role of technology in everyone’s life constantly increases. Ever since I was aware of it, I loved puzzle-solving, and hence, coding appeared as an ideal way to address them practically. Leaving the fact that websites, apps, and software might solve basic issues or help to simplify life, I got interested in how such things are constructed and what mechanisms lie at their base. I also like the concept of starting from scratch and being able to build a product that works – something for which coding enables a person.
At SheCodes my main reason for learning to code is self-empowerment through gaining employable skills in the IT market. This lead me to major in technology and how it affects the environment or rather the world in general. Coding, especially, gives an opportunity for thinking out-of-the-box and coming up with solutions and that is why I want to be among the change. SheCodes is unique because it helps women learn and be flexible while they learn which makes me feel comfortable about taking the step. I like that with SheCodes I can apply new skills and apply them immediately to projects and having confidence in my ability to bring ideas to life. Furthermore, I think that coding will allow me to be a cross-industry team member and convert all obstacles into opportunities in a career in tech or in my own business.
As a computer science student myself, I like to pursue my own programming initiatives, get into AI, and go to technical meetups or hackathons. I work on playing video games and reading science fiction to inspire myself and take a break on smashing in the nature, such as hiking or cycling. These hobbies make learning and fun intermingled and also update me with the advancement in technology.
