NIKELWA's Story I wouldn't say I was interested in coding, I would say coding was my calling and, a calling is really something you cannot defy and say no to. It is something that unleashes your underlying potential that even you, never knew that you are capable of. It is something that lies within your strengths and truly believes you can surmount all odds. My high school tutor made me interested in coding. When I applied for the computer science course that I'm doing I was just doing it but I never thought I was going to qualify but I saw it as a great opportunity for me to discover my intelligence and how much of a smart women I am. Months down the line I was accepted into the course.
Women are often looked down upon in the coding space and often offered low salaries as compared to men even though they are in the same industry. I would love to be part of a foundation like SheCodes that puts women first and believes in them more than men. I've always wanted to be a business women but I loved the physics stream in high school so I somehow felt like my dream was shattered. I later discovered that through acquired skills and experience of a certain level I can make my dream come through and this me journey into my dreams of being a successful women.
I'm a women who likes to read, whether it's a self help book or an article about my country's news, I'll read. I also like to engage in environments where I can speak and probably express my opinion and get advice too.
