🙋♀️ Olga's Motivation
As part of my training as an environmental engineer, I conducted research for my thesis that explored the relationship between sounds and bird composition in natural environments. During this process, I noticed that other researchers on similar topics employed programming and data science to streamline and optimize their analyses. This observation highlighted the importance of these skills in environmental research, because programming is an aspect in which I lacked expertise, which significantly prolonged my research.
Therefore, I recognize the importance of acquiring programming skills, as these tools can facilitate and improve the efficiency of my research. Programming and data science can simplify the interpretation of field-collected data and the analysis of patterns and trends related to bird ecology.
In addition, working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in environmental planning and management, I understand that mastering programming can optimize tasks associated with spatial data manipulation and analysis. This knowledge will strengthen my ability to address complex challenges in natural resource management and conservation.
In summary, I believe that learning programming will not only broaden my technical skills, but also improve the quality and effectiveness of my contributions to the field of environmental engineering and ecology.
