Olga's Story I first became interested in coding when I needed knowledge of a programming language for a test task for a new job. So I tried to learn "Python" then, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time or knowledge in that area. But at that point I realized that there are almost no professions where being able to code wasn't one of the most important Hard Skills. Unfortunately, I could not get the job that time, due to my lack of knowledge of coding. But now my profession is closely connected with the Ukrainian electronic service of government services "Diia". In fact, it is a huge database of 40 million people. And despite the fact that it is not my responsibility to develop this application, I have always been interested in how this complex system works from the inside. I truly believe in Ukraine's huge potential in the digital industry and would like to be part of it. Therefore, I would be very happy to get coding knowledge to return to Ukraine and be useful to my state and help it develop in the field of information technology.

Since I am currently unemployed and have no clear idea of my future, the main motivation for me is to spend my free time in a useful way. Of course, it is also important for me to have a stable and promising job that makes me feel independent and secure. But I would also like to be useful to my country when I can return there.

In my free time I like to read articles and watch documentaries about historical events. I also like studying political science and law. For fun, I like to travel and learn more about the cultures of other countries.

Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
