Phathutshedzo's Story I was introduced to tech and coding during career expos in high school, where I was exposed to the possibilities within the field. As a top-performing student, i was always curious about how technology works, but due to limited resources in my village, I could only explore it through books and occasional library visits that led to me engaging in volunteering as well. The more I learned, the more i became fascinated with the way code shapes the world. Despite financial and accessibility challenges, my passion has only grown stronger, and I am determined to turn it into a career and provide a better life for my family.
My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is rooted in my deep passion for technology and my desire to break barriers as a young woman from an underdeveloped background. I want to gain skills needed to create meaningful solutions, not only for myself but for my community, where excess to technology is extremely limited. SheCodes provides an opportunity to learn from industry experts, and with financial barriers in my way, this program would be a life-changing step toward my dream career in tech. I am eager to learn, adapt and grow into a capable developer who can inspire other young women like me.
In my free time, I enjoy expressing myself through dancing, writing poetry, and drawing. i love reading - especially self-help books and inspiring stories - because they fuel my desire for personal growth. Cooking is another passion of mine, as it allows me to be creative and share joy with others. I also love exploring new ideas and challenging myself to learn new things beyond my immediate reach. Tech is something I hope to add to my list of hobbies, as I want to use my creativity to build impactful solutions.
