Sarsha lavania's Story I had a friend in high school who would talk so much about coding and the different languages and just listening to him made me ever so curious. So one day in my 12th year of school I decided to look at videos on YouTube, I started searching job opportunities in this field and I started reading about the 4th industrial revolution and that’s when I knew this was what I wanted to study, this was what I wanted my future to be.

🙋‍♀️ Sarsha lavania's Motivation

After obtaining a NDip in Information Technology specialising in business analysis, I have always wanted to explore more of the software development side of technology, but never really got the opportunity to do so. We live in a world where everything is revolving around technology and the “back-end” to that is coding so I thought why not open a broader knowledge for my self in this world of brackets and words that ultimately produces something bigger. But with all that being said, coding has also brought upon a very overwhelming sense which sparks a bit of anxiety. I worry for if I make a mistake or maybe crash my program and due to this fear I’ve sort of stayed away from creating my own programs and web pages. I hope that with Shecodes it will help me improve my existing coding skills and make realise that there’s nothing to be afraid of and we’ll as become a confident programmer.

🤹‍♀️ Sarsha lavania's Hobbies

Now that I have an eleven month old baby I don’t have many hobbies or much time for myself. So in the time that I do get for myself, I study and complete assignments which are for my second degree - BEd (currently studying) or a good thriller novel with a cup of coffee. Work on my digital marketing adverts for my small home business which is a nail salon and definitely catching up with some series before bed.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
