Sumeya's Story I first became interested in coding because of my passion for technology and problem-solving. I have always been curious about how software and apps work, and I wanted to learn how to create my own solutions to real-world challenges. As a software engineering student at Bahir Dar University, I started exploring different programming languages and technologies. Over time, I developed a strong interest in frontend development, mobile app development (Flutter), and AI tools. My projects, like Derash and Agelgel, have further fueled my passion by allowing me to use technology to improve public transportation safety and connect farmers with customers. Beyond academics, I actively participate in innovation competitions, tech communities, and leadership activities to enhance my skills. I also run a Telegram channel where I teach frontend development and C++ programming, helping others on their coding journey. For me, coding is more than just writing programs—it’s a way to create impactful solutions and drive innovation. That’s why I am continuously learning and improving my skills, aiming to become a tech entrepreneur and make a difference through technology.

🙋‍♀️ Sumeya's Motivation

I am a 3rd-year software engineering student at Bahir Dar University with a strong passion for technology and entrepreneurship. I am actively building my skills in frontend development, mobile app development (Flutter), and AI tools to develop innovative solutions. I am currently working on Derash, a project aimed at improving public transportation safety in Addis Ababa, and Agelgel, a platform to connect farmers directly with customers. Through these projects, I strive to create real-world impact by leveraging technology. Beyond my studies, I am involved in innovation and leadership activities, including the Hult Prize, Bruh Enat competition, KTS, and the Women's Club. I have also earned a PLP scholarship in software development and run a Telegram channel where I teach frontend development and C++ programming. My ultimate goal is to become a tech entrepreneur and build solutions that address critical challenges in my community and beyond. Learning to code is a key part of this journey, as it enables me to turn my ideas into reality and scale my impact.

🤹‍♀️ Sumeya's Hobbies

I enjoy exploring new technologies and coding, especially when working on projects like Derash and Agelgel, which allow me to solve real-world problems. Teaching others is also something I love, which is why I run a Telegram channel where I share knowledge about frontend development and C++ programming. Beyond tech, I like watching science and technology documentaries to stay inspired by innovations and discoveries. I also participate in innovation competitions and tech communities, which help me learn, connect with like-minded people, and improve my entrepreneurial skills. For relaxation, I enjoy spending time with friends, engaging in discussions about new ideas, and exploring creative ways to use technology. Learning new skills, especially those related to software development and AI tools, is something I find both fun and fulfilling.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
