Teboho's Story
I have always been fascinated by technology, even though I grew up in a small village in Lesotho with my grandmother, where exposure to it was limited. My curiosity deepened when my sister brought her laptop home from university and introduced me to movies. One of those movies, The Internship, introduced me to the idea of software engineering through the inspiring story of two inexperienced individuals working with a brilliant team at Google. Although I didn’t fully understand the profession at the time, I was captivated by the problem-solving and creativity involved in the work. Since then, I’ve dreamed of pursuing software engineering but lacked the resources and exposure to explore it further until now. I first became interested in coding during an Information Systems course I took at university. It was my initial exposure to coding, and I found it both fascinating and exciting. I was proud to achieve an A+ in one of the courses, which reinforced my passion for the subject. Although I didn’t complete the program due to financial struggles, that experience sparked my interest in technology and left me eager to learn more.
