Thae Htet's Story In my childhood, I always wondered how magical characters or extinct creatures appeared in science fiction movies, I always asked my mom, "How do they create a movie with things that don't exist anymore?" The simple answer from my mom, "These are created by computers," would leave me lost in thought. I would ponder, "How do they create? What superpowers do computers possess? Why are their abilities so unpredictable?" I wanted to understand the power behind them. For me, SheCodes feels like a perfect platform to unlock that mystery. After watching the 60-minute intro class, I realized that coding wasn't about magic. It is just queries, and commends. Understanding the code and being able to write these would make me a magical being and I could create my own spark of creativity on all these things in the digital world.

🙋‍♀️ Thae Htet's Motivation

I have had an interest in coding for a long time, and SheCodes feels like the perfect platform to finally work on that passion. To be honest, coding and web development skills are highly sought-after in my country, opening doors to many exciting career opportunities. SheCodes, with its structured learning environment, can equip me with those in-demand skills. Moreover, I've always had a deep fascination with computers and their problem-solving capabilities. SheCodes' focus on practical projects aligns perfectly with my desire to understand how things work. Learning how programming, machine learning, and coding can truly "conquer the world" is incredibly motivating for me. Finally, the workings of websites have always made me curious. SheCodes seems like the ideal to fulfill my curiosity and help me "peel back the layers" of what makes websites tick. Understanding the code behind the smooth operation of websites will be incredibly rewarding. And I believe SheCodes could bring me to walk on this passion and curiosity.

🤹‍♀️ Thae Htet's Hobbies

Regarding my hobbies, I find it challenging to pick just one, as my varied interests have led me to pursue various activities. However, exploring computer systems and coding has always been my all-time favorite. Additionally, I find swimming to be a mystery similar to coding and programming. The ability to float on water and the breathing techniques required in the water fascinate me. Whenever I'm in the water, I feel an incredible sense of calmness, allowing my mind to pause and relax.

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
