Tshepiso's Story I've always had a natural love for computers. From a young age, I was drawn to technology and became quite knowledgeable in computer literacy. My interest grew even more when I got my first laptop in grade 9, a hand-me-down from my mother. She gave it to me to help with schoolwork, but I soon found myself spending hours exploring and learning how it worked. At home, we always had the old-school desktop computer and monitor that my mom used for her work, and I loved fiddling with it. This sparked my curiosity about how computers functioned, leading me to take Computer Applications Technology (CAT) in high school. CAT introduced me to the basics of coding, databases, and creating simple programs. I was fascinated by how logical and creative coding could be, and how it could be used to solve real-world problems. Since then, I’ve been eager to expand my skills and dive deeper into the world of coding.

🙋‍♀️ Tshepiso's Motivation

I was born and raised in Soweto, Meadowlands, where community and resilience are at the heart of everything. Growing up with my grandmother and aunt while my mom worked hard to ensure I never went to bed hungry, I learned early on the value of hard work and determination. In high school, I loved Computer Applications Technology (CAT) and did really well in it, but I had to drop it in matric to boost my APS score. Even though I had to step away from tech, my interest never went away. Now, I want to get back into it. I see coding as a way to empower myself and give back to my community. Through SheCodes, I’m hoping to finally learn coding skills, work on projects that can make a real difference, and inspire others in Soweto to explore technology. This is my chance to grow, learn, and help others along the way.

🤹‍♀️ Tshepiso's Hobbies

For fun, I enjoy staying active through exercising, which helps me stay energized. I also have a passion for makeup artistry, where I can express my creativity. Watching documentaries is another favorite, particularly those about technology and science. I love spending time with friends, especially when we’re trying new food together. Family time is also important, whether it's a simple gathering or just chatting. In addition, I love editing videos using various software, which allows me to combine creativity with technical skills. It’s a perfect mix of relaxation, creativity, and learning.
