Veronika's Story I started working in a small IT startup as a user education specialist. Over time, I communicated more with programmers, and they slightly opened the veil to the world of programming for me. It didn't look as boring as I thought) At school, I studied in a physico-mathematics class, and everything was always interesting to me: both the exact sciences and the humanities. But I never seriously thought that I could actually work as a technician. It seems to me that I underestimate my abilities for a long time. In fact, programming is incredibly exciting, and really accessible for learning.

🙋‍♀️ Veronika's Motivation

I am fascinated by how the code turns into a working product. It's like a kind of magic that you can do with your own hands. I got to know programming a little more than a year ago. I did not learn to program, but I worked alongside programmers. I didn't feel like it suited me. But in fact, my brain is very greedy for information and demanding in terms of the amount of workload. My brain likes to solve complex problems. Now the project on which I worked, cannot function. The project had government funding, and then the war began, problems with payments and layoffs of employees. I faced a big problem in my job search. This is connected both with many things like. I saw a post from a girl I've been following on Instagram for a long time. Then found you on Google, read your mission. And I fell like I should try. I thought of programming as a distant future. "It's cool and I can try it, but not now." In connection with the war, the situation has changed dramatically, and something needs to be decided about the future right now. It seems to me that here are precisely the values that will help the girl not to feel inferior among "men's work".

🤹‍♀️ Veronika's Hobbies

In recent years, many of my hobbies have been replaced by work, unfortunately. But what's left of them is learning. Just as a hobby, not just out of necessity. Everything else depends only on the situation. Many things I can do only a few times, and this is enough for me, and many can be repeated. Perhaps my hobby is searching for something new in life?

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
