Yaroslava's Story I was introduced to programming a year ago. I wanted to create a website for English-learners and I managed to design the visual part of it. My friend introduced me to programming in order to help me with the website. I want to learn how to code well, because I want to be able to do both visual and coding jobs in order to create both practical & visually-appealing websites. It will help me to fulfil my dream in the future, as learning how to code is the easiest ways to solve problems when it comes to creating functional and practical websites.

🙋‍♀️ Yaroslava's Motivation

I am motivated by an internal drive to learn as much possible. I believe that investing time and efforts in one’s education is the best investment you can ever make. I adore SheCodes foundation for the opportunities you offer to women in need - women, who need to start their life from scratch. It gives us hope for a better job and thus better life for us and our children. In order to become a UX designer, I have to know how to code and I believe that SheCodes foundation will help me to fulfil my dream, and for my part, I promise to put in all efforts and use this opportunity to the maximum. I am a refugee from Ukraine who was forced to leave her home country and is seeking for a safer and better life in a foreign country. I know that I can do more than just a cleaning job, I can do more for this world and other people in need. I am eager to invest as much time as needed in order to acquire a powerful skill which will give me enough tools to build a better life and be useful for our community. I want to become a UI/UX designer and UX designers should learn to code. The more programming knowledge a UX Designer has, the better they'll be able to communicate with the rest of the development team and find new and better solutions. I will be able to create websites with video/animated backgrounds using CSS/HTML and much more.

🤹‍♀️ Yaroslava's Hobbies

I take care of my inner and outer self. I love studying and acquiring new skills (which is my hobby indeed) as well as praising my body with some activities, as it helps me to think clearly and get rid of the brain fog. I practise web-design, spend lots of time in Figma, read books and watch videos about coding and web-design, and make sure to have some physical activity afterwards. I enjoy working out, studying foreign languages (Ukrainian is my native language, but I also speak English, Russian and a little bit of German). During spring I spend a lot of time outside as reuniting with nature is quite calming.

🎯

SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women currently hold 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less money than men. In most developing countries, more than 65% of women don't have bank accounts and cannot afford to invest in their education. Female refugees also don’t have many opportunities to invest in their education and improve their career horizon - they often work in unskilled, undervalued, and low-paid informal sectors.

SheCodes is here to help provide women in developing countries and women who are refugees with the opportunity to learn how to code for free. SheCodes offers a solid introduction to product development, product design and product management.
